Spirit Guides Part 3

How to connect with your Spirit Guides

Establishing a connection with your guides takes time, patience, and trust

With our guides we need to build up a relationship, just was we would if we met a new friend or lover, we need to learn to communicate with them, we find the best ways that we can work together. I read many books on connecting to your guides, and all seemed to make me believe things were instant, just like that you would speak to your guide like an old friend, you would hear them straight away. This left me frustrated for years, until someone explained to me that it takes time before you end up in conversations with your guides.

Guides communicate with us in many ways, many expect a guide to talk to us as we would another person, this often happens but not until the partnership is established. The reason? Well if you started hearing voices in your head, you might think you need a psychiatrist, it can be frightening. Instead they start with the more gentle way of showing you signs, symbols, and feelings.

This exercise is to start working on the connection; we will work on using symbols.

1) You need to select a symbol, something that is important to you, but isn’t something you would normally see every day. This symbol can be an animal, flower, or shape, anything really that pops into you head or has meaning to you.

2) Sit in a quiet place for a few minutes concentrating on the symbol, drawing it out on a piece of paper to cement this in your mind, alternatively find a picture of the symbol to focus on.

3) Ask your guide to show this symbol to you for the next week, as confirmation of his/her/it’s presence.

4) Everyday look at the symbol, carrying a copy round with you is a good way to keep you focused. Try and remember to keep your eye out for the symbol, you should see if every day, and sometimes multiple times.

5) Make a note in the exercise one thread daily noting when and where you saw it, note the circumstances around finding the symbol. If the symbol was in the newspaper, what was the article about? This will often give you clues about the message your guides are trying to give to you.

Notes:

If you don’t see the symbol for a few days (don’t get discouraged) continue the exercise,  if your starting to get frustrated then I would pick another symbol and start afresh.

Very important to understand that you might not see the symbol in the place you expect it, so if you pick an animal you often won’t see if on a pavement/road or garden, widen your expectations, it could be on a billboard or in a newspaper.

Remember that you never fail; you just might not see it. We often spend much of our time on autopilot, and this helps us to start truly seeing again.

Spirit Guides Part 2

Our Spirit Team

Many people think we have a guide or two, but in-fact we have a team we all have a team of guides who perform different functions to support our life and growth.

Personal Guides (PG)

Guides that are personal to you, they don’t work with anyone else, you’re their only focus. They will be with you constantly, throughout your lifetime. PGs are part of your higher self (HS), the part of you that’s not on earth. Your HS will assign a persona to your guide, we are human it help us to connect if our guides have a personality, so the persona chosen is one that aligns to your current aim in this life. The persona given is one of our previous lives, this is the reason our guides will feel ‘familiar’ to us, will also share some personality traits with us too. One of my PGs Robert is blunt, with a dry sense of humour; it helps me relate to him as we share these personality traits.

Another distinguishing feature that differentiates our PGs from other guides is because they are part of our own HS we do not need to be ‘open’ to work with them, they can come close to us anytime and place without us having to do anything specific to work with them.

Our PGs will focus on the everyday practicalities of living in a physical reality, alongside the BIG profound questions.

Our HS has many souls, only one soul is incarnated at one time expect for the rare phenomena of Twin Souls , when they are not incarnated they are not just waiting around, there are many realms/dimensions/universes of which earth is just one place to learn and grow.

PG roles in our Team

Main

It’s likely you will connect to one main personal guide, and other personal guides that come through to help you with specific issues. We don’t have to focus on what guide we want to step forward at each time, we simple can ask for the best one for that moment or task.

When building the relationship spirit understand the human need for personality, so initially they may present a couple of main guides and we stick with the ones that we resonate at that time. As I have mentioned with Robert, whilst he is my main PG now, as a child I used to connect to Horatio and Daphne, although at the time I thought they were simply (invisible) friends.

Gatekeeper

One of your PGs will be a gatekeeper which acts as bodyguard, making sure that undesirable energies are kept away, a bit like nightclub bouncer, if your name is not on the list (decided before incarnation) you won’t be allowed in. This is a protective energy so will show itself in a way we see as strong and powerful, that can be its size or its skills (many have martial art type gatekeepers). We will pick a persona that feels can keep us safe.

Daimon and Muse

We have one each of these, and the way the present themselves changes as we grow and what our needs are. Our muse if the feminine side of ourselves and Daimon is the masculine side. These will show up usually connected to creativity and sexuality (which really are the same thing) , which one shows up depending on what we need to express more of to create balance at that particular time, they help us to embody more of that energy at the times when we need harmony.

Their focus is our journey to wholeness.

Primal Animal

Like the Daimon or Muse this is another aspect of self our soul can conjure to support our growth, this animal will also change depending on what is required at the time. This is the PG that people are least likely to connect to unless you feel connected to earth energies as many humans prefer to work with other people. As a shapeshifter they show themselves mainly as birds, or foxes, however when doing Physical mediumship either in a protective or a energy holding or change capacity I will become a bear or a snake.

Vocational PG

I didn’t know what to call these guides because these are different depending on what you are tasked to achieve in this lifetime. Amongst other hats I where I am a professional physical medium, I therefore have guides that assist me in that particular work, in-fact one introduced himself as a Seer!

Their role is to build upon work that has already started in other incarnations because if in this life you show any aptitude for specific work this would not have been your first ride on the rodeo.

Some people can start learning instruments and it feels easy to them, they have an affinity to that family of instruments. This shows in a past life they learnt the instrument, we are picking up where their left off in honing that skill. That’s the same for other latent talents, we are building on past work, so we have a persona from a past incarnation that shows us how to access and grow into that skill.

Additional Team members

These energies will not be around us all the time, they can come and go depending on the phase we are going through or work we are tasked with. They may not be around us for life and unlike the PG we are not their only charges, sometimes they are simply there as our muse to inspire us.

Animals

Unlike the primal animal guide these are not elements of ourselves (and HS) we will also have the option of working with animal energies that are external to us, just as the other guide roles.

Soulmates

Members of your soul group/family who are not incarnated can also assist us if they wish too, this is often their choice and we can decide to work with them or not.

A soulmate might wish to work through some karma by supporting you in this way.

Teachers

There is an argument to say all guides are teachers, but mostly with guides its two way we both are learning from each other, with PGs it’s a partnership. Teacher guides there is more of a mentor relationship, they are hear for a specific reason to impart particular wisdom, often these are energies that are (or were) top of their field and can assist you.

Ascended Masters

I hesitate to use the phrase ‘enlightened beings’ but this is perhaps a good way to explain them along with angels, the main difference between the two is that AM have been incarnated many times and have ascended (hence the name). An AM can also be a teacher, like Angels they specialise in the bigger picture, the profound and philosophical. They predominately are focused on helping humanity as a whole, not as individually focused like some of the other guides, this is not to say cannot.

Angels

As with AM angels are Enlighted beings but have not been incarnated in the physical realm (earth) apart from a couple of exceptions. So these do not follow the structure I mentioned before about higher selves, there are many consciousnesses like angels but many are not open to connecting to such entities (which is a pity).

Angelic beings as mentioned mostly have not been incarnated so you won’t have a flowing conversation with an angel, they will often drop an image or a word directly into your heart, so you get an impression but not so much a conversation. Communing with an angel is more an experience than a conversation.

Whilst they can help with all matters, I would suggest that they are not always the best in giving advise on more mundane or material matters as this is not their forte and often the message profound, but without the practical instructions that other guides can give.

Loved ones

I get asked quite often if a relative is a guide, they can support your team but they also have other work to do, and whilst they mostly want the best for you, they can still be biased regarding you and how you live your life. So whilst there is often not judgement on their side, it does not always mean their advice isn’t tainted with their own opinions.

Loved ones will often help us connect to our PGs when we first start, it’s easier to trust someone you loved when they were physical, this can act as a bridge to connect you to your PG and start to build trust.

They will mostly come forward to help with an area of your life that before their passing they were concerned with, love, work or family matters.

Spirit Guides Part 1

What are they?

Energies with consciousness that are committed to supporting our current incarnation. With our guides the clue is in the name, they are not here to tell us what to do, only to offer guidance which we can chose to accept or reject (the beauty of free will).

They are not in a physical body as they are not incarnated and communicate through using our psychic sense and physical senses.

Working with spirit is always a two-way street, whilst we are learning and growing, so are the guides, or we are assisting them in understand how to better connect with people.

Why should connect with them?

People might wonder why they should bother to connect with their guides at all, personally I take advantage of any assistance through life I can. Your guides are assigned to you to help you navigate through this life, they know what your soul is aiming to achieve in this lifetime.

There are varieties of types of guides, you don’t need to worry about asking for specific guides, the right one for you will always make itself known to you. Your guides will try and help you from birth, however they are limited in how they can help you of the communication is one way, or you don’t ask them for help. Asking for help enables them to assist you in a more direct manner.

Tarot Talk- Free exercise

Tarot Meetup -Can you feel it?

I had a great time as guest speaker at the LTSG, which we have been assured is the biggest tarot meet up in London!

This post has a free exercise from that meetup at the end of this blog.

I don’t have time for that much theory without the practice to really understand how things fit together so I made sure that I gave the members a meetup a tarot work out.

tarotmeetup

(Deck is a Morgan Greer)

As I was walking (literally in many cases) the members through the exercises I realized how much miss teaching. We had a mixed group from novice to advanced, and I took joy from seeing that even the seasoned professionals managed to get something from the session.

I am thankful to all the members you attended for making the event such fun!

So today as I look back and write the lessons learnt, I am going to leave you with one exercise that isn’t just for tarot readers, since this is energy work it can be done by healers, mediums, psychics and such like.

Tarot exercise – Can you feel it?

Inspired by Rachel Pollack, when I first read ‘Seventy eight degrees of wisdom’ it made me look at the cards differently, brought them to life by stepping into the card, I have since expanded this by investigating work by Judy Hall which makes the work with the tarot more physical. You can use tarot to combine with therapies such as family constellation and experiential astrology, by making the tarot an experience.

So this exercise is simply a chance to play, to feel the card, experience it.

  1. So shuffle your deck and pick a card, you might need to pull cards until you have one with a figure on, alternatively pick the cards up that you feel drawn too.
  2. Look at your card, find some space in the room, and then (like Madonna) strike a pose, copy the figure on the card that draws you eye. This does require you to stand up if the figure is on the card, copy not only the arm positions, the hands, legs and even the facial expression.
  3. Take 3 deep breaths whilst ‘acting the card’, and feel, let the energy of the card rise up and surround you.
  4. When you have finished, like Taylor Swift you need to ‘shake it off’…..whenever doing energy work, it’s important to let it go, and movement is the easiest way to do so, and the most fun!

I invite you all to try this exercise, and let me know what card you ‘became’, or share this with someone who might enjoy this.

Solar Eclipse – March 8/9th

Eclipses are game changers

“This family of eclipses is concerned with the endings or separations. Thus when it affects a chart individuals will find themselves dealing with a parting…..”

From Predictive Astrology, The eagle and the lark by Bernadette Brady

This reminds me of the Death card in the tarot, an ending that might be important but isn’t easy, but in doing so, we are able to create space for new opportunities…but death, even metaphorically is hard for us and it requires us to let go, and go through a grieving process. Pisces recognizes we are all ONE, and therefore, we never ever really die, so this might help us in this process.

This is a great eclipse for healers, mediums, psychics, and spiritual people in general, Chiron the wounded healer is involved in this eclipse, and it’s also a south node eclipse, so the theme is about healing the past.

If you are a holistic or occultpreneur, use this energy to tune in and find out what your paths is, and what do you need to heal to move forward in life and your business. You might find that others coming to you in the next few months are seeking the same answers, suffering the loss of something that creates a void, this needs to be turned into a space for the new opportunities to be welcomed in.

So if you’re looking for a ritual, I would suggest that you set an intention to heal or release any issues that blocking your spiritual development, ask where you need to be going, what is your direction.

Eclipses are game changers, be ready to change

Are the words you hate, limiting your audience?

Here is a good article which outlines the pitfalls of ignoring words because we dislike them, but they are the words our target market will use. This case study involved client who offered psychic services but didn’t want to use the word “psychic” and wanted to use an alternative, suffice to say the person was shooting themselves in the foot, because their target audience used this word to search for services.

My client committed SEO suicide by refusing to adapt or modify her existing keywords and content, to reflect and support said keywords. The end result: her business failed. No one searched for her terms, and her site was never found. Why? Because she didn’t consider which keywords her target market would use. Instead of accepting suggestions that would have brought her traffic, she crippled all efforts put forth to make website optimization a success. She couldn’t get past her vision of how she wanted to label her services.

https://www.seo.com/blog/selecting-the-right-keywords-to-capture-your-target-market/

When I started working with Amy Beeson who is a freelance Brand Consultant and Coach she had a similar problem with me, many words currently for the services I provide I detested. I had a strong reaction to many words such as:

Psychic

Intuitive

Soul

Spiritual

Well you get the picture, when I started the business I wanted to steer away from all the clichés but I soon learnt that you need to focus on your audience, how are your customers going to find you?

This was a mindset change I had to make, and it sounds simple but it was a process which took time for me to get my head round. You have to remember that you’re not defining your work this way, but using the right keywords enables you to reach more people, and therefore spread your message and services wider, that is the end goal…..even if you initially balk at it, if you don’t use these words you limit yourself.

So are you limiting yourself and your business?

Popping my cherry….on the radio!

It’s gone, I can’t get it back again….and it was good!

Ok, get your mind up from the gutter, it was a different metaphorical ‘cherry’. I have struggled with ‘coming out’ on social media (see here), I said that this was a challenge to myself which I am working through, so this radio show was a good start.

My friend has asked me to come onto her radio show awhile ago, I said yes not thinking it would be so soon, as distant idea. Well, it came round to Monday, and that invite turned into actually happening! I happily said yes and felt fine about it, calm and even excited, I could feel spirit round me giving me the support.

When I was writing notes I didn’t worry, up to a couple of hours before hand, It was fine, but then it hit me like a big rock, I am going on live streamed radio.

I AM GOING OUT LIVE….shit…SHIT!

I decided to focus on the full moon, and I sat just trying to stop those horrible thoughts that can cloud your mind about the fact I could choke, the words getting caught in my throat. I even started yawning, which was a disaster, how can I go out live with a yawn?

So I fell back into my safety net, I sat and called in the support of spirit, asked them to help me if I needed them, to gain any insight and focus for the show. I sat and felt calmness descend again, the yawning was helping me get rid of these fears, literally breathing them out. The feeling I was left with was…

You can’t fail…

Which is true, worst case scenario was that I talk nonsense, and if I did, I still did something new, something I needed to do, so the experience was important. This is what I love about mediumship, you always can get a pep talk from spirit, and it comes with a big energetic hug.

So I went back to my notes, normally being very Virgo I would have made copious notes, not having these would have in the past made me nervous, but not now. I know my stuff, this is what I have to remind myself, it’s all in my head regardless of the number of notes I have, it’s only a prop, I do my best work when thrown into the deep end, head first.

So when the radio show started I felt that same feeling again, that still feeling that I can’t fail.

So I went out live, I felt comfortable, in part to the support of the host, the lovely Astrid from Spiritual Alchemy. I am proud of myself, for accepting the opportunity, I thank my guides, my team for being there through the wobbles.

Right now I am reminded why I love my life, how when we open ourselves up, we create opportunities.

If you want to hear my first foray into radio, or simply want an alternative view of mediumship, then take a listen, here!

I would love to know what you think!

fatigued when writing a spell

Rituals….kill the magic

Its Sunday morning, I have my decaff coffee, watching Sunday Brunch, realizing this is something I do pretty much every Sunday, it’s not even something I think about it.

Routine and rituals tend to be embedded in our lives, and the occult fields are not any different, if anything rituals are something that’s highly prized in this world. Tarot readers often will read using the same spreads, cutting the cards the same way each time. Mediums tend to prepare the same way when they are going on stage or even for a one on one client reading, their prayer is something that’s often well worn. Witches have many different ceremonies, spells require apparatus that differ depending on the type of spell, but the actions are often the same.

Rarely do we review these rituals, they become another thing we do automatically just as we shower in the morning and brush our teeth. Even our mindfulness can become a routine.

The reason that we tend to start any spiritual practice is that we want to WAKE UP, we want to stop sleepwalking in our life and smell the roses, watch the sunrise, and gaze at the moon. We want to feel alive, to transcend our mundane life and contact something that’s more than us, that’s greater, that’s infinite. However, this practice can become what we are trying to get away from, we can start going on autopilot, and mindfulness can even become a routine, the very thing it’s meant to guard against. We stay in a rut, a spiritual rut, but a stuck groove nonetheless.

We end up seeing what we want to see, the same roses, the same sunrise, everything that excited us when we started, becomes dull, we know it’s magical, but we no longer feel it.

We get spiritual fatigue.

fatigued when writing a spell

We still go through the motions, we even still believe we are enthralled, but its just an illusion we have been working to see through, the awareness we have been working towards is elusive.

Rituals maybe the cornerstone of many practices, but it doesn’t mean that we should not shake these up, make a few tweaks here and there, improvements that move us forward.

Being mindful applies to all our lives, even our spiritual practice, if you do something without thinking about it, it’s time to make a change, to shake things up. If even the idea of making a change gives you chills, then this is exactly what you need to do.

So think about what you do each day, everything, do something different each day and see how this changes your perspective, how it can bring back the magic.

You are not the person you were last year, so why do the same practices you did last year? change them to reflect the person you are now, not the person you were.

So do something different today.
